Epic Games Teases Next Big Fortnite Update, Titled Horde Bash

The Epic Games team has been amazing at keeping interesting events active constantly in Fortnite. As the Survive the Storm event winds down–in addition to the PvP Battle Royale mode having just launched–Epic is teasing what’s coming next. Survive the Storm will be ending on October 2 at 2 AM EDT, but the Fortnite Horde Bash update will be quickly replacing it. Posting on their blog, Epic threw out some hints for what players can expect, which going by the title and feature bullet “hordes of husks,” seems like a horde mode to me.

Greetings Fort Friends,

On Oct. 2 at 4:00 a.m. EDT the Survive the Storm event will be ending, so make sure you get those final runs in and grab that last Hydraulic weapon you’ve been chasing (Rocket Launcher pls).

But, what’s next?

The Horde Bash event, featuring…

  • Pre-Built Forts
  • Hordes of Husks
  • Instant Co-op Action
  • And more!

New details on the Horde Bash Update coming later this week.

Be sure to check out our Fortnite review, where Tyler Treese talks about the broadening game experience. The addition of events like the Horde Bash update seem to fit that bill.

While there are a few rough edges that make it clear why Fortnite isn’t officially releasing until next year, I’ve had a really great time with the inventive shooter so far. I’m rarely someone that gets into a loot grind, but Epic does such a great job at constantly broadening the game experience that I’m always excited to unlock something new in-between missions. I’m not sure that I can fully recommend dropping nearly $40 just to play the game early (and get a bevy of bonus unlocks), but it won’t be a wasted purchase as long as enough friends are down to play it together.

Are you excited to hear more details about the Fortnite Horde Bash update?
