Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Development Update Shows New Gameplay

A brand new developer update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been released, and it features some exciting new gameplay. The video is less than 90 seconds long, but it manages to pack quite the punch (or should I say whip?) in a short amount of time. It shows off the Courtyard area of the game, music by Noisycroak, and players get to see Zangetsu in action.

Check out the new Bloodstained gameplay trailer below:

Development Update 9

Here’s how IGA describes what’s in the new video:

Courtyards are just as important to an IGAvania as castles, right? Maybe not? Well, this time the courtyard is a very important part of the game, and that’s why we’re sharing a look at this area.

Zangetsu is a samurai character we’ve previously announced. He resents anyone and anything tainted by demonic power. As a result, he’s hostile toward Miriam, whose existence is directly connected to the demon ritual. This is also a new stage we’re introducing for the first time.

I came into my demo of Bloodstain: Ritual of the Night with some reservations about the crowdfunded title, but all of those fears melted away after I got my hands on it. This is IGA and Inti Creates doing what they do best, which is creating satisfying combat with all of the proper hooks of a Metroidvania title. I’m looking forward to seeing how the game will evolve, as I’m sure the demo only touched on the surface of what is available, but so far it’s looking extremely promising.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is expected to release in 2018. The latest KickStarter update teases that another demo is on the way.
