Exclusive: Learn the Basics in a Brand New Outcast: Second Contact Trailer

Bigben Interactive has released a brand new trailer Outcast: Second Contact, giving players a more in-depth look at how the action – more specifically, the combat – will work in the upcoming game.

Outcast: Second Contact PS4 Gameplay

The trailer (above) isn’t very long, but does teach players about some of the weapons – like the Tracer and the Dart Gun – and the gadgets, which will help players set up traps, explore unseen areas, and generally help them along in their play through. The game launches in less than a week, so thankfully players won’t have long to wait before they can get a first-hand look at the new and improved world of Outcast.

Here’s more on the game courtesy of developer Appeal:

In Outcast: Second Contact, the action takes place on Adelpha, a vast open world to explore and the cradle of an ancient alien civilization, the Talans. This video shows a bit of the gameplay in Outcast: Second Contact and the depth of its unique world, in which exploration is at the heart of adventure. Sacred portals, called Daokas, let you travel freely to the four corners of Adelpha from the very start of the game, as you search for your crewmates and the lost terrestrial probe.

To successfully complete your mission and the hundreds of side quests, you will need to gain the trust of the local inhabitants. Talk with the people, negotiate with rich merchants, save oppressed farmers, take on dangerous predators and even undergo a mystic ritual with the great Shamaz priests of Adelpha. Each Talan has a unique history and personality.

Outcast Second Contact is an interesting throwback, with strafe based gameplay that reminds me a lot of Dark Void (why anything reminds me of Dark Void is still a mystery to me, but that’s an article for another time). The advanced world lore, AI, and quest systems from 1999 find a place right at home in 2017 for a game that respects its original release while updating the graphics and some simple aspects to better fit in with the modern era of gaming.

Outcast: Second Contact will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 14.
