Koei Tecmo has announced today that the upcoming Dynasty Warriors 9 will be releasing for the Western regions on February 13, 2018 for the PlayStation 4. To celebrate the news of the announcement, Koei Tecmo has announced some bonus content that fans can get by pre-ordering either the digital or physical versions of the game.
For those looking to get the game, Koei Tecmo has sweetened the pot for players, as pre-ordering the game will net buyers seven costumes for fan-favorite characters, including outfits for Zhao Yun, Guan Yinping, Diaochan, Sun Shangxiang, Lu Lingqi, Wang Yi, and Yang Yuanji.
For those who don’t know, Dynasty Warriors 9 will be the first time that the Warriors series expands to an open world installment, allowing players to have a more immersive experience in the game. For more on the upcoming Dynasty Warriors 9, make sure to check out our preview of the game:
And now onto the character movesets, which has been a hotly debated topic in the Dynasty Warriors community. Although Guo Jia mostly keeps his scepter weapon design, I feel like his movements in Dynasty Warriors 9 become very similar to that of Zhou Yu’s staff. However, there are still a couple of things that make him -and every other characters in Dynasty Warriors 9– somewhat unique, which are the R1+O unique attack, and both the ground and aerial Musou attacks. I would say that if people are willing to overlook the problem of clones, they will be able to enjoy the numerous possibilities of playing through the game thanks to the open world system.
I can’t wait to be able to explore more of the open world 3rd-century China and the limitless playthrough possibilities when Dynasty Warriors 9 is released later in early 2018 worldwide, for PlayStation 4 exclusively in Japan, and also for Xbox One and Steam in the West.
Dynasty Warriors 9 is set to release on February 13, 2018.
