One Piece Grand Cruise trailer

One Piece Grand Cruise Trailer Published by Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco has published the trailer for One Piece Grand Cruise, a One Piece game that will be exclusively playable with PlayStation VR on PlayStation 4. You can read the general idea of this VR game with a translation of the press release right below:

The player will become a pirate apprentice who joins the Straw Hat Pirates in their Thousand Sunny ship on a certain voyage. They can enjoy shooting battles against the Marines, as well as battles against giant krakens that attack the Thousand Sunny. In Communication Events where players can closely approach the Straw Hat crews, they can enjoy story and event developments exclusive to VR as characters will react differently based on the player’s answers to their questions.

As you can see in the trailer, you will be able to interact with the Straw Hat crews such as Luffy and Nami. You will also get to participate in battles to repel krakens, Marines, and enemy pirates. Although you don’t seem to have any special powers and thus can only see your crewmates unleash their signature attacks, you can also help them fend off enemies by controlling the ship cannons.

A trial version of One Piece Grand Cruise that is currently playable at Tokyo One Piece Tower will also receive an update on December 8. In addition to Nami and Sanji, players will be also able to interact with Zoro and Chopper in the updated version. There will be also a new event added, where Doflamingo appears to invade the Thousand Sunny.

The PlayStation VR-exclusive One Piece Grand Cruise will be released in 2018 in Japan. Currently, it is unknown if this game will be also released in the West or not.
