Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Has Been Delayed Once Again

ni no kuni II delayed

In a disappointing bit of news, we’ll have to wait just a bit longer to get our hands on the final version of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Bandai Namco revealed that it will be delayed to March 23, 2018, two weeks past the prior reported delayed release date (which was two months past the officially delayed release date before that). Bandai Namco offered a message from Akihiro Hino, President and CEO of Ni no Kuni II developer Level 5.

Hello Ni no Kuni fans,

As you all know, LEVEL-5 is committed to delivering the highest levels of design and quality in each of our titles. The development of our latest project, Ni no Kuni II: REVENANT KINGDOM, is coming along very nicely and we can’t wait to share this new adventure with you, our fans. In an effort to constantly innovate, we’ve also implemented new modes in Ni no Kuni II, including the new Skirmish and Kingdom Modes.

However, with innovation and new ideas comes the need to ensure everything works together in a fun and cohesive way; this means we’ll need a bit more time to make sure the entire Ni no Kuni II experience meets our highest quality standards. So today, I would like to ask for everyone’s patience as we move Ni no Kuni II’s worldwide release date to March 23, 2018. We will be sharing more news about Ni no Kuni II: REVENANT KINGDOM in the coming weeks and months as we move closer to our new launch date. On behalf of everyone at LEVEL-5, I want to thank you all for your patience and continued support.

Akihiro Hino – President & CEO of LEVEL-5

It seems like Level 5 just needed a bit more time to polish everything up before they feel comfortable putting this anticipated sequel into the world. If you want more info on Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, you can always check our E3 preview:

Every so often a truly unique gem rises above the rest of the games, and some of these titles are strong enough to shine long far beyond their release year. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is one such game, having landed as our RPG of the year in 2013 in spite of it being an English port of the Japanese version that released in 2011. That’s right, it was that good. Ni no Kuni meshes stunning Studio Ghibli style art with some of the best JRPG mechanics to create one of the few games that I was ever sad to get a Platinum on, just because the adventure had come to an end.

The announcement of Ni no Kuni 2 has me back on the edge of my seat and E3 2017 finally gave me a chance to go hands-on with it, if only for a brief period. Once again, Level 5 is blurring the line between interactivity and animation. Headed by an all-star development team straight from Studio Ghibli, and the same team that made the first game, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is in good hands.

Are you disappointed with the delay, or excited that they are taking their time to get the game done right? Wait for Ni no Kuni II with us in the comments below.
