Dynasty Warriors 9 Shows Gameplay Footage of Lu Bu, Xiahou Dun, and More

Continuing from last week, Koei Tecmo has published five more character gameplay videos for Dynasty Warriors 9, featuring Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, Xu Sheng, Zhang Xingcai, and Lu Bu.

First up is Xiahou Dun. One of the most iconic characters in the long-running Dynasty Warriors series, he still uses his trusted Podao Scimitar to deliver a quick succession of rapid slashes.

Next off, we have Xiahou Dun’s brother Xiahou Yuan. In this iteration, he is sharing the Twin Rods with Taishi Ci. However, to distinguish himself from the latter, he has some exclusive moves that involve using the bow as a nod to his prior movesets in Dynasty Warriors 7 and 8.

This batch also has a footage of one of the brand-new characters added in Dynasty Warriors 9, Xu Sheng. He uses the Twin Meteor Flails which have flails attached to both ends of a chain.

We also have a footage of Xingcai, Zhang Fei’s daughter who would later act as Liu Shan’s bodyguard. She retains the Sword and Shield, while her Musou attack seems to combine both of her ground Musou attacks in Dynasty Warriors 8.

Last but definitely not least, we have a video for Lu Bu, the strongest character in Dynasty Warriors series. Remember the good old advice when encountering him, “Do not pursue Lu Bu.” You can also hear a preview of Lu Bu’s new theme remix in this particular video.

Dynasty Warriors 9 will be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan and the rest of East Asia on February 8. North America and Europe will have this game later on February 13, but they will also receive Xbox One and Steam versions.
