Romancing SaGa 2 Out Today on the PS4 and PS Vita

For the first time, Romancing SaGa 2 will be making its way West as it releases today on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. As of right now, the game is live over on the PlayStation Store for both platforms. The PlayStation 4 version of the game will support cross-save with the PlayStation Vita, so those interested in buying both will have one less worry.

Because it’s been so long since the game released, the Western version of the title has been updated for the current generation of consoles, and includes a number of updates, including:

  • Updated graphics and audio
  • New character classes for added depth and tactical possibilities for gameplay
  • A new dungeon with greater challenges
  • A “New Game+” feature to carry over useful character attributes and items into a new game, enabling players to obtain missed items, or save previously sacrificed lands and companions

For those unaware, Romancing SaGa 2 is a Japanese role-playing game developed by Square that launched way back in 1993, but has been remade for mobile devices and handheld consoles since then. For more on the game, make sure to check out below:

■No two players will experience the story in the same way■

The SaGa series is one of Square Enix’s most beloved. The first three titles were originally branded overseas under the “FINAL FANTASY LEGEND” moniker , and garnered critical acclaim for their complex yet compelling combat system.

Romancing SaGa 2 takes the varied gameplay of other entries in the series and combines it with an open-ended free-form scenario system whose story is as vast as the world in which it plays out. The player takes the role of a succession of emperors, painting the history of the world with each and every action.

Familiar series hallmarks such as formations and glimmers make a return in this unique title.

Romancing SaGa 2 is available now.
