The Northeast Championship fighting game tournament is planned to start today and wrap up on Sunday, and many fighting game fans are tuned in to watch their favorite players compete. Taking to Twitter, Team NINJA might have given fans another reason to watch, as they teased that an announcement will be made after all prizes are given out on Sunday.

Normally, nothing there would be out of the ordinary, but the picture that Team NINJA chose to use could very well be a reference to the Dead or Alive franchise. For those who don’t know, “I’m A Fighter” is one of the songs used on the Dead or Alive 5 soundtrack, and is the song that plays over the final scene and ending credits of the game’s story mode. Whether or not that gives us any idea of what to expect, Team NINJA is still planning to announce something, so make sure to tune in this weekend.

Despite the occasional freezing, I enjoyed my time with Dead or Alive 5 Last Round. Its updated visuals, huge character list, and numerous costumes set it apart from previous versions of DOA 5, and the fun and interactive environments really kept me interested in the core gameplay. While the story mode was confusing and the characters felt somewhat bland, Last Round is a game that fans of fighting titles should probably check out.
