Most Anticipated Game of 2018 – Winner

The end of the year has rolled around, which means it’s time to sum up 2017 with the Game of the Year Awards. PlayStation LifeStyle is doing our year-end awards slightly different from previous years. We wanted to put more importance on the nomination for each award, so we limited each category to five games. That’s not many, especially in a year stacked with great titles. It took a lot of careful deliberation to come up with each list.

As great as 2017 was, 2018 also looks to be another great year of gaming. There are a lot of stellar looking titles in development that we can’t wait to play. That said, there’s also games like Death Stranding and The Last of Us Part II that don’t look like they’ll release in the next year, so they weren’t eligible.

Last week, we announced PlayStation LifeStyle’s nominees for the Most Anticipated Game of 2018. Here’s a reminder of what got nominated:

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life

Both Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami were a blast this year, but the future is even brighter for the series. If there is one bone to pick with these titles its the combat, and Yakuza 6 brings a far more versatile combat system, and an extra layer of polish. Our preview said, “After getting my hands on Yakuza 6, I feel as if I’ll have a harder time enjoying Yakuza Kiwami when it releases later this year. It really is so much of an upgrade that it’ll be difficult going back to the more rigid gameplay that defined the series on PlayStation 3. The Song of Life proves that SEGA still can do a lot more with Yakuza going forward, as it has gotten new life thanks to the cutting-edge engine finally taking advantage of the more advanced hardware.”

The rest of our Game of the Year 2017 award winners will be announced during this week, leading up to the reveal of PlayStation LifeStyle’s Game of the Year 2017 on December 29. This year will go down as one of the greatest in gaming, so we’re very excited to unveil all of our picks!

Of course, we’d also love to hear what you think. Did your most anticipated game of 2018 match our pick, or would you have liked to see one of the other nominees take the award? Stay tuned to find out the rest of the winners this week!

Don’t miss the rest of the announced year-end award nominees and winners.
