Shadow of the Colossus PS4 Trophy Guide

For each of the individual colossus fights, see the previous page. This trophy guide will help you get the rest of the trophies required for the Shadow of the Colossus PS4 Platinum.

Speed King – Gold

-Obtain All Time Attack Items Together as One Set

This trophy is perhaps one of the most difficult and time intensive trophies, despite being called Speed King. First, you will need to complete the game on Hard difficulty to unlock the Hard Time Attacks in New Game+. Time Attacks can be undertaken by kneeling (hold R2) at each of the statues in the main shrine area. Complete each Hard Time Attack. Manually save your game, and then start another New Game+ on Normal, loading the save you just made after completing the Hard Time Attacks. Now complete the Normal Time Attacks and you should have the full set of gear from both Time Attack difficulties.

See the individual colossus guides for Time Attack tips.

Intrepid Mortal – Gold

-Max Out Wander’s Health and Stamina Bars

This trophy seems more difficult than it actually is, as you will be playing through the game multiple times for trophies anyway. Playing on New Game+ retains any items, health, and stamina that were previously obtained. Health and stamina can be increased by collecting fruit (seen in some trees) and lizard tails (usually around Save Shrines, but can be found elsewhere) respectively. Defeating colossi will also increase the stamina bar. To catch the lizards, you will have to shoot them with the bow or attack them as they scurry around.

See our collectibles guide for the Fruit and Lizard Tail locations.

Speed Demon – Gold

-Complete Hard Mode Under 5:41:28 s

Ah, wonderful speedrun trophies. The most stressful kind of trophy that a hunter can endure, besides maybe a no-death run. You can almost feel father time breathing down your neck as you play. Don’t worry though, this one’s pretty easy. If you go directly to each of the 16 colossi, and have a pretty good idea how to take them down already, Shadow of the Colossus PS4 can be completed in under three hours, so there’s plenty of time to spare. The individual Time Attacks will actually cause a far greater stress than a full game speedrun.

There are some differences in the Hard difficulty colossi. See the individual colossus guides for Hard difficulty tips.

Grounded Scaler – Gold

-Defeat Colossus 8 Before it can Turn Back Over

After completing the Hard Time Attacks, you will have some very useful items that make for quick colossi kills. Colossus 8 is the one in the small coliseum area that climbs the sides. You must shoot its legs to make it fall down and onto its back. This trophy requires you to kill the colossus before it can roll back over. The easiest way to do this is to be at the bottom already when you shoot the colossus so that you can immediately begin doing damage. It’s possible to do this without special gear, but I recommend going for this later, as you’ll have to play through the game with that unlocked gear anyway.

Resist the Wrist – Gold

-Defeat Colossus 3 Without Breaking His Wristguard

Hopefully you’re good at doing some tricking platforming, because this one requires some imprecise and often blind jumps. Colossus 3 is the one with a giant sword on his right arm that you must climb up. Traditionally, you would make it hit the stone circle in the center to shatter his wristguard, but for this one, you’ll want to keep him away from the middle so the wristguard stays intact.

When he slams his sword into the ground, climb up it near the wristguard and fall down on the right side, grabbing the edge as you do. From here, jump to the ledge on its leg, and then leap back to its arm, grabbing the fur above the wristguard portion, and continue the climb to the weak points on its head and stomach. As long as the wristguard is intact when colossus 3 goes down, you’ll get this trophy.

Fruit of the Garden – Silver

-Taste the Poisoned Fruit

You’re probably best saving this for one of the final trophies you unlock. Eating the poisoned fruit will lower your health and stamina, so you’ll take a hit if you have yet to max both of them out. Atop the main Shrine hub is a garden. Around the back of the Shrine is a wall that you can climb to reach the top. Your stamina will need to be nearly maxed out to make it to the top. Once in the garden, shoot one of the fruits out of the tree and eat it by pressing R2.

Reach the Gate – Silver

-Cross the Bridge to the Entrance of the Forbidden Lands

When you reach the area to eat the fruit above, run across the massive bridge the spans the desert area to the north. Reach the very end of the bridge to receive the trophy.

Last Man Standing – Silver

-Complete a Single Playthrough Without Dying Once

Just don’t die while playing. You may need to do this on one of your New Game+ playthroughs with extra health, stamina, and unlocked items.

Bearer of the Curse – Silver

-Complete the Game on any Difficulty

You’ll unlock this when you beat the game, so unless you don’t plan on finishing it, you’ll get this trophy.

Dormin’s Rage – Silver

-Use Dormin’s Breath Attack

During the ending portion after beating the final colossus, you will be in control of Dormin, an enormous demonic figure. During this sequence, press Triangle to do the breath attack and unlock this trophy.

Seeking Salvation – Silver

-Pray at All Shrines

Pray at each of the 25 Shrines in the game to unlock this one. Press R2 to kneel and pray at each one.

See our collectibles guide for Shrine locations.

Trick Rider – Silver

-Perform All Stunts With Agro

There are a number of horse stunts you can do while riding Agro, and performing each of them will get you this trophy. Here is the Shadow of the Colossus horse stunts list:

  • Tap X to jump off Agro’s back
  • While standing still, hold back on Left Stick and tap Triangle to start galloping
  • While galloping, hold back on Left Stick and tap Triangle to come to a quick stop
  • While galloping, hold back on Left Stick and tap Triangle twice to quickly turn around
  • While galloping, hold R2 and X to stand on Agro, and then left/right to hang off each side of Agro. You may need all three for the trophy.
  • Gallop towards a small ledge and Agro will jump off
  • Pet by pressing Square with no weapon equipped both standing beside and riding Agro

Sword of Her Majesty – Bronze

-Defeat any Colossus with Queen Sword

The Queen Sword is an Easter egg from Ico, and can be unlocked by completing all 16 of the Hard Time Attack colossi. Using it will destroy a vital point in a single strike, so it should be easy to use once you obtain it.

Paint the Target – Bronze

-Use the Sword to Focus on a Vital Point

The game instructs you to do this on the first colossus, but if you somehow missed it, just raise your sword with R1 and hold it aimed at a vital point on any colossus for a few seconds until the trophy unlocks.

Fruit of the Land – Bronze

-Eat a Piece of Fruit

There are trees around the map that have fruit you can shoot down and eat (using R2) to increase your health.

See our collectibles guide for the Fruit locations.

Five-Lined Skink – Bronze

-Collect a Silver Lizard Tail

The easiest place to find lizards is at the Save Shrines scattered around the map. They run around so you may not see it immediately. Shoot it with your bow or attack it with your sword to kill it and collect the Lizard Tail with R2 to increase your stamina.

See our collectibles guide for the Lizard locations.

Trick Arrow Skills – Bronze

-Shoot a Lizard with a Special Arrow

Special arrows are unlocked as you defeat Time Attack colossi. Once you unlock any special arrows, use one of those (by tapping Left on the d-pad) to kill a lizard and unlock this trophy.

Skilled Warrior – Bronze

-Defeat a Colossus with a Downward Jump Stab

You’ll have to do this one on a horizontal vital point. If you have to hang on to the side of a colossus, you won’t be able to get this one. When you can stand upright without hanging on and the colossus is nearly dead, jump up and hold Square in the air to stab down into the colossus. This might be easier after unlocking the Queen Sword that destroys vitals in a single strike.

The Past that Defines Thee – Bronze

-Defeat any Colossi While in Reminiscence Mode

The most difficult part of this trophy is learning what Reminiscence Mode is. After defeating any of the colossi, return to their pile of rubble and press R2 to fight them again. Defeat the colossus in this mode to get this trophy.

Animals of the Land – Bronze

-Interact with a Dove, Hawk, Fish and Turtle

The issue with this trophy is finding the locations of each animal. Grab each of these animals by pressing R2 to interact with them and get the trophy.

  • Doves are on the stairs in the starting Shrine hub
  • Hawks can be found in multiple places around the map. Your best bet is to try to grab one near the Save Shrine to the west of the main Shrine
  • Search any lake areas and bodies of water for fish and attempt to interact with one
  • Head north from the main Shrine area as if you are going to Colossus 11. On the way, there are the turtles are running around a rock in this area.

Boon of the Nomad – Bronze

-Find Barrel in Hidden Cave

The barrel in question for this particular trophy is actually an Easter egg for The Last Guardian. It is one of the glowing blue barrels that Trico eats. You can find the barrel down in a cave in the forest area that is southwest of the starting Shrine area.

You can search the area yourself, or PowerPyx has a great video that shows the exact location of the barrel.

Once you get all of these trophies, you’ll unlock Shadow of the Colossus’s Platinum trophy.
