Katamari Damacy Reroll Gets Trademarked by Bandai Namco

The folks over at ResetEra have discovered that Bandai Namco recently trademarked “Katamari Damacy Reroll.” Naturally, this has led to a lot of speculation regarding what it could mean for the Katamari series.

In moments like this, it’s important to remember that filing for a trademark may not mean anything. Sometimes, companies simply do this as a defensive measure or to keep the door open for future projects.

The most popular guess fans are making is that this could mean there’s a Katamari collection or remaster in the works. That’s certainly something fans want, and even Katamari Damacy creator himself, Keita Takashi, expressed his desire for the Sony remaster treatment.

Other than that, some fans in the ResetEra forums are predicting a mobile release, half-joking that “reroll” could be a reference to gacha games. Putting Sony aside for a moment, fans have wondered if this news was one of the pieces of information meant to come out of Nintendo’s recently delayed September 2018 Nintendo Direct.

Still, it’s all guessing at this point. While the trademark may be meaningless, fans eager for more of Keita Takashi’s work still have Wattam to look forward too. Although, that game is taking longer than anticipated to arrive.
