Spider-Man Sold 44% More Retail Copies Than Uncharted 4 Did During Launch Month in the UK

FIFA 19‘s launch sales in its home turf were down by 25 percent year-on-year, but it didn’t stop the game from sitting atop the UK retail chart in September 2018 despite being on sale for only two days when books were closed. However, the real success story is Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man, which settled for the second spot.

According to GfK, which only tracks physical data, Spider-Man sold 44 percent more retail copies than Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, 94 percent more than Horizon Zero Dawn, and 138 percent more than God of War sold during their respective launch months.

Although Shadow of the Tomb Raider‘s sales figures weren’t made available, GfK reports that Lara Croft’s latest adventure didn’t do well compared to its predecessors. Shadow of the Tomb Raider also happens to be the least favorably reviewed game in the trilogy.

Elsewhere, NBA 2K19 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 both saw launch month sales drop by 31 percent and 36 percent year-on-year, respectively.

In terms of market share, Sony’s PlayStation 4 took a whopping 62.8 percent, up from 40.4 percent in August.

Here are UK’s top ten games at retail between August 26 and September 29:

  1. FIFA 19
  2. Spider-Man
  3. Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  4. Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
  5. NBA 2K19
  6. Grand Theft Auto V
  7. F1 2018
  8. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  9. PES 2019
  10. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
