Project Spartacus Reveal Rumor

First PlayStation Now Day One Launch Title Sparks Rumors of Project Spartacus Reveal

On March 1, Shadow Warrior 3 will be released. This news in itself is nothing out of the ordinary, but a small note alongside the latest gameplay trailer revealed the game will be launching into PlayStation Now on the same day. This is the first day one title to arrive into the subscription service and the news has sparked rumor of an imminent reveal of Project Spartacus.

When will Project Spartacus be revealed?

Project Spartacus is rumored to be the name of Sony’s rival to Xbox Game Pass. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Chief Executive Officer, Jim Ryan, has said before that the Microsoft’s subscription model wouldn’t work for PlayStation, especially with AAA titles launching on the service on day one. However, Sony has been working on some kind of a response and in November Ryan said there was “news to come”. With Shadow Warrior 3 being the first ever title to launch day one into the service, many are expecting an announcement to come before the end of February.

Previous rumors have claimed Project Spartacus will be a monthly subscription service on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 that allows access to a library of modern and classic PlayStation titles. Both PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now are expected to be merged into Project Spartacus, while there’s also expected to be some form of cloud gaming involved too.

In other news, Guerrilla Games has announced they are prioritizing the visual issues experienced by some players in Horizon Forbidden West, especially in the game’s performance mode. They’re aiming to release an update as soon as possible. Elsewhere, Sony has finally unveiled PSVR 2 and the final design of the Sense controllers to the world, with a matching design that incorporates an “orb” look that represents the 360-degree view players will get while using the headset. In a similar design to the PS5, the headset will include thousands of tiny PlayStation logos.
