Insomniac’s First PS2 Title was Originally a Game Called Monster Knight

Developer Insomniac Games has revealed that their first PlayStation 2 title was originally going to be a game called Monster Knight, a game that was later scrapped in favor of a furry Lombax and his trusty robotic companion.

This information was first revealed to IGN‘s Colin Moriarty, who went to visit the Insomniac offices to find out more on the company’s history. According to the report, studio CEO Ted Price has a massive binder full of information and concept art on Monster Knight. We’ve included a page of content below for your viewing pleasure.

The game was designed to be an action adventure title that stars a female character named Madi, who captures monsters and then trains them so she can use them as weapons and armor. Definitely a unique concept that clearly borrows some ideas from Pokémon.

What do you think of Monster Knight? Are you glad they decided to leave this one at the drawing board or were they on to something special here? Let us know in the comments below.
