Naughty Dog’s Next Game Isn’t Set in Space; Neil Druckmann Saw a “Super Inspiring” Concept Piece

After some members of Naughty Dog revealed how they were visiting SpaceX recently, speculation ran wild that Naughty Dog’s next title would be set in space and they were there doing research. Quick to dispel these rumors, Naughty Do Co-President Christophe Balestra said on Twitter:

Visiting SpaceX… and no we’re not making a game that takes place in space! We just got invited because we’re cool!

So, while Balestra completely shot down a space game from Naughty Dog, Uncharted 3 devs Justin Richmond and Robert Cogburn had some fun in their recent AMA. When asked if they could comment on a space IP, Cogburn said, “There’s not enough space to talk about it.” While Richmond said, “If only the Starlight wasn’t so Savage…,” after being asked if Nathan Drake might appear in the space game.

For a little more Naughty Dog fun, Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us Creative Director, did give out a little teaser on when he’ll be starting something new:

Today I saw a concept piece for a potential future project that was super inspiring. Can’t wait to explore those ideas… After [The Last of Us Single Player DLC].

With The Last of Us’ single player DLC scheduled to release in December or January, it could be a couple months before Neil gets a chance to explore that mysterious concept piece.
