Resident Evil Revelations 2 Takes Place “On a Lonely Island in the Distant Sea”

Earlier this week, Capcom revealed some new concept art (above and below) for Resident Evil Revelations 2, teasing the prison and the island as locations for the game.

Now, in an interview with Famitsu (via Siliconera), Series Producer Machisaka Kawata and Director Yasuhiro Anba revealed some information about Revelations 2, including how that wrist device you saw in the trailer with either a green or red light is “the most important key item. It will also become a key part of the game’s story.”

Addressing the location of Resident Evil Revelations 2, Anba said:

The first Resident Evil takes place in a mansion, and with Revelations taking place on a cruise liner, so you have many stages that were set in closed locations, but Revelations 2 will take place on a lonely island located somewhere in the distant sea. We’d like to make it into something we can call ‘Resident Evil Island’.

Kawata added that the island is much wider than the cruise liner, giving them more to set up than in the first Revelations title.

Additionally, Kawata teased that there will be other facilities on the island, other than just the prison.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be available in early 2015 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
