RedLynx Talks Trials Fusion Multiplayer, is Coming Out This Year

“Toiling away” on it for the past few months, Ubisoft and RedLynx revealed some new information about Trials Fusion multiplayer, which is expected to launch before the end of the year as a free content update.

First off, Creative Director Antti Ilvessuo revealed that only 10% of players spent time in Trials Evolution’s multiplayer, and just 3.8% of those people spent it in public multiplayer. For Trials Fusion, however, 33% of players use Track Central daily, while over 40% have tried Local Supercross.

The low conversion rate in Evolution pushed RedLynx to redesign the multiplayer for Fusion, which Ilvessuo discussed:

When you play multiplayer, you want to see where the other riders are at all times. You don’t want them to get in front of your camera, and you want your rider to be as close to the camera as possible. Knowing this, we designed the new online multiplayer to have the player always be closest to the camera. To ensure everyone sees themselves as the closest rider, we render your rider on a different driving lane than the one your friends will see you on when they are playing with you.

This also makes it possible to now have up to eight players at the same time, all of whom will always be visible on the screen but never in your way. We’re really stoked about it, and early tests already show it’s a blast.

Expect more details about multiplayer in Trials Fusion as we approach the end of 2014.
