The Witcher 3 to Only Use the DualShock 4 Touchpad as a “Button” for Inventory, CD Projekt RED Confirms

In case you didn’t know, PlayStation LifeStyle was part of a group of video game media professionals who were invited to get some hands-on time with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Now, as part of the preview event, we were also given the chance to talk to the studio in all things The Witcher 3 — and that’s what we just did.

During the course of our interview, we asked CD Projekt RED Level Designer Miles Tost if there’s any ingenious feature being used by the DualShock 4’s touchpad.

No, I think we are just using it as a button. The touch-pad itself, I don’t think we are using in anyway at the moment, but we are still experimenting with that since we still have some time. Ultimately, we don’t want to just do something for the sake of just doing it, just because it is there. If it works, it works. But just by touching the button you open up the inventory.

Well, that settles it, then. But of course, there is the off-chance that the studio might sneak in a special feature for it at the last second; though I wouldn’t count on it based on Tost’s statement.

Be sure to check back later in the week for our entire interview with CD Projekt RED. In the meantime, why not check out a plethora of new The Witcher 3 gameplay videos to tide you over?
