With New Partnership, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC Will Stay PlayStation-Exclusive for 30 Days

Announced during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference, PlayStation and Activision have partnered to bring Call of Duty DLC to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 first.

As Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher & Developer Relations at PlayStation, explained to Kotaku, the deal gives PlayStation 30-day exclusivity on DLC before it comes to Xbox and PC. This is essentially the same timing as the deal Microsoft had with Activision, where it would take 4-5 weeks before DLC showed up elsewhere.

The partnership between Sony and Activision officially begins with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and also extends to the current-gen exclusive multiplayer beta, which takes place first on PS4 later this year.

If you’re wondering about Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, nothing’s changed with that and the next expansion, Supremacy, launches on Thursday, June 2.

According to PlayStation Europe’s Jim Ryan, Sony is starting to become the first thing a publisher thinks about when considering partnerships.
