Konami Unveils Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist PS4 Gameplay and More

In a recent stream, Konami Online Content Producer Yuichi and Game Producer Charles showed off some PlayStation 4 gameplay from Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist, which is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in Summer 2015.

During the stream, it was revealed that the story is told through the eyes of robot historian INF-N8 and takes you through the five Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series storylines, complete with unvoiced cutscenes reflecting the events in the shows. While you’re able to use your own custom deck in story mode, Konami offers the option of using a crafted deck that fits the timeline of the show, meaning you could summon Exodia in the duel against Kaiba, but the deck will be different against Pegasus.

Using the real life Yu-Gi-Oh! rules for the duels (8000 Life Points, sacrificing creatures, etc), Legacy of the Duelist brings back Duelist Challenges and Simple Mode, while improving the Deck Editor through Smart Search by recommending cards that are related to the ones selected.

Featuring 6,691 cards, Legacy of the Duelist makes it easier to earn cards, with a win giving you three cards from your opponent’s deck as well as enough DP to buy roughly three card packs. In online gameplay, even the losers earn DP, and if you disconnect, it counts as a victory for your opponent.

Priced at $19.99, Legacy of the Duelist will have a free demo and you’ll be able to buy additional content at launch that includes the Japan-only finales to GX and 5Ds, in addition to more decks, avatars, and characters.
