Local Multiplayer Brawler Paperbound Getting Huge Update, Includes Campaign, Match Mutators, and More

Paperbound review header

You may have missed Paperbound when it first released earlier this year, but I have to reiterate that we loved it. It’s a simple game, but one that offers a wealth of local multiplayer fun, and it’s about to get even better.

One of Paperbound’s creators, Dan Holbert, reached out to let us know that Paperbound is getting a huge update, and according to their Twitter, it will be here “later this month.” Here’s what you can expect in this update:

– Campaign mode for solo/co-op play

– Game mutators (similar to Unreal Tournament mutators)

– Weapon pickups

– Random match rotation that changes the map, game type, mutators, etc.

Dan also teased a super secret game mode that fans of Rocket League will be sure to enjoy. I typically don’t have three other people available to jump into local multiplayer brawlers — save for the odd weekend get together every so often — so the addition of a campaign mode for solo and co-op players really intrigues me. I’m also excited to see how the game mutators and weapon pickups multiply the simple chaos already present as players brawl for 2D superiority.

Don’t forget that week two of Sony’s Summer Sale is going on now, and yes, Paperbound is part of it. You can pick it up for $5.00, with an additional 10% off if you are a Plus member, so if you’ve been looking for an awesome local multiplayer party game that’s about to get bigger and better, now’s the time to pick it up.

Thanks to Dan Holbert for letting us know about the update!
