Bulletstorm Studio Working on a AAA Shooter, Says It Parted Ways With Epic on “Very Good Terms”

Polish studio People Can Fly has revealed that it has started working on a AAA shooter as well as a smaller project, the details for which it will reveal in due course. The developer, which is known for its work on Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgement, is now fully independent since parting ways with Epic Games last year, which CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski says happened on “very good terms.”

In an interview with GamePressure, Wojciechowski said:

We’ve been working on it since the beginning of the year. Before that, we were polishing the concept. So for any details you’ll need to wait until next year.

When asked if we should expect something similar to Bulletstorm, he said:

I can’t answer this question, but I assure you that the mere fact of acquiring a publisher at such an early stage is a testament to our vast experience. And that’s what we’re using in the development of the game.

Speaking of publishers, Wojciechowski revealed that People Can Fly has already “established cooperation” with an undisclosed publisher since going independent. Although the developer has complete freedom now, he acknowledged that teaming up with Epic provided the team with the resources that they needed to maintain the studio. He further said:

We don’t have the support of the Epic group anymore – which had its advantages – but now we can really show what we’re capable of.

Despite positive reviews, Bulletstorm failed to be profitable for EA and Epic. However, the game did establish quite a following and is considered one of the most underrated titles from the last generation.

We’re certainly looking forward to seeing what People Can Fly come up with next.
