Dev Claims Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered is the Best Deal of 2016

Though it has evoked strong feelings among the community, Infinity Ward’s Eric Monacelli believes the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered represents one of, if not the best gaming deals of 2016.

Chatting to We Write Things regarding the dual release, Monacelli claimed that the package represents “phenomenal value,” considering that, all told, when put together both shooters boast upwards of 400 hours of content when you factor in Zombies in Spaceland and the multiplayer components.

“As a fan of the franchise and thinking as a consumer, it’s a phenomenal value and likely the greatest deal in gaming you’ll find this year. Just consider the sheer number of hours you’re going to spend playing both campaigns then both multiplayer games…and you’ll still have Zombies in Spaceland to enjoy. 400 hours? 500 hours? More? It’s incredible quality and value. It’s like getting five games for a price that’s less than what you’d pay to buy two games.

“As a developer working on the games, I couldn’t think of a better, more immersive collector’s package for our fans. I’m really excited to play [Modern Warfare Remastered] again and can’t wait to blast off into Infinite Warfare with our community,” Monacelli said.

In related news, former Call of Duty dev Vince Zampella swung by the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered, revealing that in many ways, the CoD series was birthed in spite of EA and Medal of Honor.

“Originally when we formed Infinity Ward we were working with EA. We had a deal to do the sequel to Medal of Honor. Once they tried to strong-arm us, we decided we don’t want to be part of EA. As a team we decided that isn’t what we set out to do. We ended up going and working with Activision, and yeah, Call of Duty was kind of a response to that.”

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare launches across all platforms on November 4, when Modern Warfare Remastered will be exclusive to the Legacy, Legacy Pro and Digital Deluxe editions of IW. For our thoughts on the shooter’s recent beta test, check out our latest Top 5 episode.
