Gravity Rush 2 Runs at a Near Constant 30fps on Both PS4 & PS4 Pro, Video Analysis Shows

Gravity Rush 2 isn’t releasing until next week, but Digital Foundry has already taken a look at the upcoming title, measuring the frame-rate and comparing the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro versions (beginning at 0:52).

In terms of performance, Gravity Rush 2 runs at a near constant 30fps on both PS4 systems. You will notice minor dips at rare moments when there’s lots of dust, smoke, and other objects on-screen, but it never goes below 27fps. All in all, Digital Foundry says, “The majority of the experience is a completely locked 30 frames-per-second on both consoles” and the game suffers from “no noticeable performance or visual flaws.”

With the resolution, regular PS4 owners will find a native 1080p. On PS4 Pro, it runs at a full 2160p on a 4K screen and 1080p on a 1080p screen with downsampling, resulting in cleaner edges and finer distant detail. Although Gravity Rush 2 is at 2160p on PS4 Pro, Digital Foundry adds:

Closed pixel counts suggest a full 2160p here, but when looking at the scene as a whole, it doesn’t look as clean as a native 4K image would actually suggest. Essentially, it looks more as if the geometry pass is handled entirely at a native 4K, while all shading and other rendering passes are rendered at a lower resolution. This leads to noticeable pixelation and blur within surfaces, but sharp, clean edges around them.
