Hyper Light Drifter Update Adds 60fps Action

Heart Machine went to Twitter to announce that update 1.03 is now available for their PlayStation 4 action role-playing game Hyper Light Drifter. The latest update adds a much requested feature to the game, which is the ability to play it at 60 frames-per-second (the game was previously only playable at 30 frames-per-second on consoles). “Hyper Light Drifter on PS4 now runs at 60fps,” wrote director Alex Preston on the company’s Twitter account. “[It] has Boss Rush and Newcomer modes with new Trophies! Grab it now on PSN!”

According to the game’s official patch notes on the system, it also includes “bug fixes.” Overall, update 1.03 seems to have something for everyone. It boosts the frame rate for those looking for a more responsive game, adds in a new difficulty for those having trouble with the action title’s staunch difficulty, and adds a Boss Rush mode for advanced players to try to master.

As the tweet indicates, new trophies were also added to Hyper Light Drifter. These come in the form of three bronze trophies that are all achievable in the game’s Boss Rush mode. According to the trophies, players will be able to tackle the mode with three different loadouts: Fully Loaded, Mid-Range and Naked. A trophy is earned for completing the mode with each loadout. That’ll likely prove to be difficult (especially naked!), but trophy hunters will be up for the challenge.

Hyper Light Drifter released July 26, 2016 for PlayStation 4. The game is based upon the creator’s own struggles with heart disease.
