According to an apparent email exchange between Reddit user Finch-Tech and PlayStation Support, PlayStation 4 update 4.50 and a new PlayStation VR update will be available tomorrow, March 7.
“With the release of System Software 4.50 tomorrow, there will be a patch to version 2.40 of the PSVR firmware,” PlayStation Support’s Matthew wrote in response to Finch-Tech’s question about image drift problems with PSVR. “I do not have specifics on what the patch contains, outside of support for 3D Blu-Rays.”
If 4.50 is releasing tomorrow, expect Sony to send out details later today. We’ll keep you updated if they do.
Looking back at PS4 update 4.00, it went from beta to full release in just under a month. PS4 update 4.50 entered beta back in early February.
As we’ve learned from Sony and the current beta, PS4 update 4.50 includes Boost Mode for PlayStation 4 Pro, external HDD support, custom wallpapers, a simplified Notification list, a Quick Menu refresh, and the aforementioned 3D Blu-Ray support for PSVR.
