Cyberpunk Horror Game Observer Releases Next Month on PS4

Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team are working on another horror game, but this one will have a cyberpunk twist. Called Observer, their latest psychological horror game revolves around the idea of fears being hacked. The game will star Blade Runner actor Rutger Hauer as a detective named Daniel Lazarski. Lazarski’s job as an Observer, which is an “elite neural detective with the authority to hack and invade suspects’ minds,” will be explored within the game.

The good news is that players won’t have to wait long for the creepy title as it releases next month. On August 15, Observer will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.  Those that don’t want to wait that long can actually check out a demo of the game at the San Diego Comic-Con, which is running from July 19 (that’s today!) through the 22. It’ll be available at the Lionsgate booth.

Here’s how developer Bloober Team describes their upcoming game:

The year is 2084. If you somehow survived the Nanophage, odds are you were killed in the War. Those who live have turned to drugs, VR, neural implants — anything to distract themselves from this new reality. You are Daniel Lazarski, an elite neural detective known as an Observer, and part of a corporate-funded police unit whose purpose is to hack and invade suspects’ minds. In this future, anything you think, feel, or remember can be used against you in a court of law.
When you receive a mysterious message from your estranged son, a high-level engineer for the almighty Chiron Corporation, you journey to the seedy Class C slums of Krakow to investigate. But as you hack into the unstable minds of criminals and victims to look for clues, you are forced relive their darkest fears.  How far will you go to discover the truth?
