Dragon Quest XI Sales Eclipse 2 Million Copies

When Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age was announced for the PlayStation 4 and Nintedo 3DS, everyone figured it would end up doing very well in Japan, and hopefully make it’s way to North America and Europe. Well, it’s been confirmed that the game will be coming west and now after two days on store shelves in Japan, it’s doing extremely well!

According to Famitsu, in two days, the game has sold two million copies, with 950,338 of that coming on the PlayStation 4. These are insane numbers that should only grow as the days continue to pass by and does not include digital sales at this time.  To put this in perspective, the best selling Dragon Quest game to date, DQIX, has sold just over 4.3 million copies in it’s lifetime. With the game already announced for Western audiences, and this only being a few days worth of sales data, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it become the best selling DQ title.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age features the art of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama & music by Koichi Sugiyama. Details are fairly sparce concerning the localization of DQXI, but it is believe to be releasing on PlayStation 4 and 3DS (and while there’s no Vita version, it will support Remote Play).

Do you plan to wait for a Western release, probably next year, or are you jumping on that train right now and importing? Please let us know in the comments and be sure to check back here as news continues to pour in from Japan.
