Rockstar Has Revealed Red Dead Online and Its Beta

Rockstar Games has unveiled Red Dead Online, the online component to Red Dead Redemption 2 that will be set within the same massive, open world. As part of the reveal, Rockstar Games has announced that things will kick off in November 2018 with a public beta test.

Structurally, it sounds like we can expect Red Dead Online to be similar in a lot of ways to GTA Online, which makes sense. It’s set within the base game’s world, can be played solo or with others in both competitive and cooperative game modes, and will be supported by a steady flow of updates and changes.

Rockstar Games confirmed in a press release that Red Dead Online will be launching in November 2018 as a public beta, and that more details on that will be coming soon. The developer  was upfront in this announcement and said to expect some “turbulence” at launch, attributing any issues to the size and scale of this content. Community outreach will be a big part of the initial launch, with Rockstar stating it looks forward to interacting with fans to shape Red Dead Online into a success.

Finally, of course, Rockstar Games confirms that Red Dead Online will be accessible for free for anyone who owns Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 remains set for launch for both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on October 26, 2018.
