Part Two of the Swords and Souls Documentary Shows Us Why the Pros Want Soulcalibur VI

The release date of Soulcalibur VI is nearly upon us, and Bandai Namco has released the second episode of its Soulcalibur documentary series, called Swords and Souls. While the first episode explored the history of the series as a competitive title, with a particular focus on the rivalry between France and the USA, this episode asks some of the same pro players what they think of the new entry.

Obviously nobody’s going to say anything bad about the game here. These are fans, and while the previous video alluded to some problems with the previous games, this is all about the hype. Still, there’s interesting stuff here.

The same players/pros/influencers from the first video are here as well. The group includes Maximilian, Kayane, LinkRKC, Aris, Biblius, and Bandai Namco’s own MarkMan.

One of the key aspects of Soulcalibur VI most of these people bring up is how easy they think it is to get into. With many of the new mechanics, such as the super attacks and the Reversal Edge, they feel like curious players will be able to get into this game more easily than past entries.

To a similar extent, Maximilian also said that Soulcalibur VI will be a good game to come back to for fans of the older games. The characters look more like they used to, and the story is more about the overall Soulcalibur timeline, so he feels there will be less of a niche factor than previous games, which often drastically altered the cast from its popular Soulcalibur II incarnation.

You can watch the video above for all of it, but the ultimate takeaway here is that the pro scene seems to be excited. They do hope, however, that Bandai Namco is able to support the competitive scene for Soulcalibur VI well after launch.

We’ll see how that shakes out after Soulcalibur VI launches on October 19, 2018 for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC.
