Is this supposed to be some kind of Goku clone? I'm assuming not, but he just looks too similar to make it worthwhile. Plus, Dragon Ball already has like 50 other characters in it, so we can do without this chump.
Do we really need kids taking part of this? Listen, I'm sure he's a capable fighter and all, but on the basis of him being an actual child, he ranks low. He looks like he'd be annoying. No one wants an annoying child on their team.
Confession: I didn't even know Naruto had a child until covering Jump Force. Maybe this is a recent development; maybe this has been long-established. There's no way to know for sure.
Someone needs to go easy on the eyeliner. This chap definitely looks to be brooding and moody, which is fine I guess. I'm assuming, since he's from Naruto, that he's some kind of ninja, but considering the amount of Naruto characters in this game, some are going to fall by the wayside. Sorry, I don't make the rules.
The coolest thing about this fella is the giant "X" just on his cheek. Besides that, I'm not seeing anything memorable about him. He has a long sword, which, yes, that can do a lot for you. But with manga having such a wide array of wild and crazy characters, this isn't doing enough for me.
Sure, he's got some cool dragon armor, but besides that, what does he bring? Not wearing a shirt can only take you so far when fighting against other superhumans.
Same as the previous warrior, except our boy Pegasus gets a shiny set of gold armor, which gives him a leg up. Also his name is Pegasus, which just conjures up images of a flying horse.
This just bores me. I don't see anything worthwhile about this character. Looking at all of the other characters in this roster, Yusuke just seems so pedestrian. But he's not doing anything offensive either, so he's got that going for him.
Another guy with a sword. At least he has a cool headband, though.
This is supposedly one of the two original playable characters in Jump Force. He totally looks like a character that would be in Dragon Quest (probably because he was designed by Akira Toryiama). A Dragon Quest character would be pretty awesome in Jump Force, now that you think about it (and—spoilers—there is one!).
Is this the Blackbeard? Edward Teach? I could just Google all of this to find out if this is supposed to be the real Blackbeard, but I won't be doing that. If this isn't the real Blackbeard, then I guess this is some kind of cheap imitation? Thank you, next.
What kind of name is Trunks?
Just what we needed: more kids. From what I can tell this kid is some kind of bloodthirsty killing machine, which I guess is cool. But not enough to get me past the pure fact this is a child.
He's got some cool hair, I'll give him that. I do know, based on the myriad of comments on the different Jump Force articles I've written, that many people wanted JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in this game. I guess that means he's popular. Maybe a little too popular, as far as I'm concerned.
She's one of like five female characters in Jump Force, which immediately makes her pretty cool. But another swordfighter? Are there not more unique characters in the Shonen Jump pantheon?
Controversial? Maybe. But Goku's not all that exciting, to be perfectly honest. Sure, he's popular, but popular does not mean the best. Plus, I guess he's kind of a terrible father? That's a lot of negative points against him.
This character is from One Piece, which I assume means he's a pirate. Pirates are cool. But if you're going to be a pirate, dress like a damn pirate. We don't want any businessmen in here.
Is "Younger" his actual name? Is he just a younger version of Toguro? Again, more questions I could easily look up but probably won't. He does look like he could punch someone pretty hard, I guess.
Another boy with a sword. At least his sword is big and bulky, as opposed to the numerous samurai swords we've gotten. I've never heard of Black Clover until I learned about Black Clover: Quartet Knights, and that game looks fun (I've never played it).
What the fuck is this?
Is this a school kid? We're having students fighting? You're going to ruin you're perfectly nice school uniform!
I know literally nothing about Kenshiro, but he looks like he could kill me. I don't want him to kill me.
Good old Piccolo. Gonna be honest here, I had him ranked much, much lower. (How much lower? That's a secret.) But I apparently learned that he's actually a pretty great father figure? Which makes him so much more wholesome. Who knows how he is as a fighter, but we need more awesome dads in this world.
I vaguely know who Luffy is, thanks to the endless One Piece promos that aired on Cartoon Network back in the day. I know he's a pirate, which is pretty awesome, and I think he can stretch his body. That could be pretty useful in combat.
I also know nothing about Rorona here, but he at least seems pretty awesome. Does he always hold his sword in his mouth? Literally every image of him I could find shows him doing this, so I assume so. Plus something must have happened with his eye, which means he has a bit of mystery to him. I want to know more about him and his story.
I've never read The Adventure of Dai, but I do love Dragon Quest. Dragon Quest XI is out now on the PS4, and you should play it. One of the best RPGs ever made.
One of my favorite tropes in media is the ninja who covers their mouth. Why? It looks cool, okay. Nothing says "cool" like obscuring your mouth from the world.
I'm assuming Boa is a Lady Pirate, which is one of the coolest things you can be. She seems like someone who could totally beat me up, and she kind of scares me.
Based on appearance alone, I'm assuming Lady Kaguya here is some kind of mystical figure. Is she a friend or foe? She seems like someone who has her own agenda, and I respect the hell out of that. She also looks like she could destroy an entire village with a snap of her fingers, so you should not cross her.
When I was first putting together this list, I somehow completely forgot about Sabo, so I figured this was a good way to make good. He does have a nice hat/googles combination, and a slightly unnerving scar on his face. Sorry, Sabo. I'll make sure to play as you.
My Hero Academia is super popular. Plus, Deku's a superhero, which is awesome! I have no idea how his power operates, but I'm assuming it's something cool, right?
It's a mummy! Mummies are obviously the best kind of monster, so having one be playable just makes sense. When there's a mummy available, why would anyone choose one of the 500 swordfighters?
Alright, I'll say it: Cell is kind of hot. I don't know who or what he really is, but we need to protect him at all costs.
Hisoka is also pretty hot, though in a slightly more uncomfortable way, I think. His wild hair and face tattoos give the impression that he is slightly unhinged, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt.
The second of the Jump Force originals, Galena is also designed by Toriyama. She's a much successful attempt, probably because she looks even more like a Dragon Quest character. She's apparently evil, which means we all should be evil. We want her on our side.
Of all the Jump Force characters, Jotaro is the most stylish. That "conductor couture" look is everything. I think he has some kind of superpowers too? I have no idea for sure, but I'm sure he's a capable fighter.
Sasuke is the ultimate edgy boy. I think I've seen maybe five episodes of Naruto, in my life, and Sasuke's always been a little emo. He's been the source of some pretty wonderful memes, too. I have no idea what's going on with that red eye, though.
The guy has a gun. Does anyone else really think they can go against a gun?
It was a tough fight for the title of "top swordfighter," and Ichigo almost made the cut. However, he just barely missed the spot for purely subjective reasons. This is my list, after all, and I like the next fighter just a tad bit better. It's not you Ichigo, you're great too! Just not as great as number three.
Of all the swordfighters in Jump Force, dare I say he stands on top? He just has this air of cool about him, a sort of nonchalant-ness that makes him immediately intriguing. He could probably slice someone up without even breaking a sweat.
There are also a lot of ninjas in Jump Force. (I think the characters in Naruto are ninjas, at least.) Naruto may not be the best ninja, but he is the one I'm most familiar with. I know he has some kind of fox powers, so that's probably part of his moveset, too. Naruto's pretty cool.
Yugi is the undisputed number one character in Jump Force. Who needs guns, swords, and ambiguous superpowers when you have the power of the cards? It's time to duel, losers.
