Sony Pushes to Bring DayZ to the PS4

You can never have too many zombies. Even Sony knows that.

DayZ’s creator, Dean “Rocket” Hall, told EscapistMagazine that Sony has shown interest in bringing DayZ to the PlayStation 4, even going as far as meeting to discuss the possibility. He said:

It appears to be the kind of game that Sony are interested in, I think we just have to wait and see. We’ve talked and met with Sony, and they’re very – you know, they’re obviously interested.

For anyone with an interest in zombies DayZ is the ultimate video game. It’s a zombie apocalypse simulation of sorts where you get one life per character and can kill other players before stealing their loot. Though, they can do the same to you, so survival skills are a necessity. You’d think the genre would be prevalent but so far it has only made its way to PCs, and only a clunky mod (DayZ was an Arma 2 mod) and an extremely controversial, low rated game (The War Z) to show for it.

A standalone title for DayZ is currently in the works which is being referenced above. It’s being spearheaded by creator Dean Hall himself along with Bohemia Interactive, the company who made Operation Flashpoint and the Arma series. It’ll have much improved visuals, and will deal with some of the issues that weighed down the original, namely its floating shooting mechanics. Truthfully, it’d be a fantastic addition to the PS4, and would set the precedent that titles that were once thought of as PC exclusive can work on Sony’s new hardware.
