Modern Warfare Remastered Update

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare & Modern Warfare Remastered Need 130GB of Space on PS4 (Update)

Update: Activision has updated their official FAQ to reveal that the 130GB estimate is on the high end and includes any day one updates and the additional Modern Warfare Remastered maps:

The estimated storage space required for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (Legacy, Digital Deluxe, or Legacy Pro) is a combined 130 GB. This is a high-end estimate, which includes both games, any Day 1 updates, as well as the additional Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered multiplayer maps to be released before Dec. 31, 2016.

Original Story: Discovered by Charlie Intel, French retailer Micromania is giving out empty Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition boxes along with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Campaign early access codes. According to the back of the box, the Legacy Edition, which comes with a physical version of Infinite Warfare and digital version of Modern Warfare Remastered, requires a minimum of 130GB of free space.

So far, we know the MWR Campaign early access is a 40GB download, which could also be the size of the full game. If it is, that means Infinite Warfare takes up 90GB on its own. Of course, it’s possible the PS4 Pro support and PlayStation VR mission take up a good chunk of that space, and the files for the additional Modern Warfare Remastered maps (Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike, Wet Work) coming in December may also be included in the 130GB estimate.

If you pre-ordered one of the Infinite Warfare special editions, the MWR Campaign early access is now live on the PlayStation Store. As Activision explains, after November 3 you’ll have to install the full version of MWR to keep playing:

The early access period will end on November 3rd. On launch day, you must install the full version of Modern Warfare Remastered that is included with the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition, Legacy Pro Edition, Digital Legacy Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition.

Please note: Any progress made in the Campaign during the early access period will carry over to the launch version. This means you can continue the Campaign where you left off, or you may choose to restart from the beginning.

Activision has also confirmed that physical buyers of one of the Infinite Warfare special editions must have the game disc inserted in order to play Modern Warfare Remastered.

Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered release on November 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The Closed Beta begins on October 14 for PS4 players who pre-ordered.
