NHL 2K Series Gets a Lockout

Introduced in 2001, the NHL 2K series debuted on the market, courtesy of 2K Sports. The title was to go against the rival EA Sports hockey titles, which at that time had released NHL 2001. Unfortunately, the NHL 2K series has been on a decline these past few years, while the EA NHL Hockey series has been on a steady upward shoot. It seems with the degrading quality of the titles, that parent company Take-Two Interactive has shut them out.

In the recent Take-Two Interactive earnings report, the NHL 2K series was absent from the game’s planned for release through the ongoing fiscal year. Judging by this, it may seem that the series has been cancelled. A 2K spokesperson has commented on the matter:

“We are currently in the process of evaluating our sports portfolio and have not announced any new NHL titles at this time.”
