GT5 To Go Full Throttle With PS3 Power

After a recent delay for the Japanese release of the racer and inevitably a western delay, Polyphony Digital’s boss and the mastermind behind the Gran Turismo series has revealed in an interview that Gran Turismo 5 will use the same amount Uncharted 2 used of the PlayStation 3’s processing power.

Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed during an interview with VentureBeat that Gran Turismo 5 will use “80 percent” of the PS3’s processing power, the same amount as Naughty Dog’s latest title.

It is about the same for the PS3, about 8o percent of the processing power. The PS3 hardware has a very high peak performance. The better you manipulate it, the better it performs.

When asked if the interface for racing games can be improved via Sony’s new motion controller, Yamauchi said:

It’s fun to play with steering wheels and gas pedals. But when you see the new motion controllers, I want to create a different kind of game.

After 5 Years in the making, and with 51 million Gran Turismo series games sold overall, Gran Turismo 5 is certainly shaping up to be one of the greatest racing titles of all time.
