de Blob 2 Painting its Way to PS3?

We know many of you without a Nintendo Wii might be asking yourself just what is de Blob?  For those who don’t know: de Blob is a puzzle platformer where players must liberate a city by reviving the color and life that has been taken away by the monochromatic INKT Corporation.  The game was released for the Wii back in 2008, and it looks like its sequel could be making its way onto the PS3.

In an interview THQ did with IGN,  CEO Brian Farrell stated that he hopes to see similar success for the 2nd game and hopes to see that success on other platforms.

“Well, de Blob started its life on Wii. We’ve not announced anything yet, but obviously with a great brand like that — people love that character — taking it to other platforms, the game mechanic can be done.  Actually, I prefer it on a normal controller. We’ll be branching it out to other platforms — that’s a great brand to build.”

Although Farrell wasn’t specific about which “other platforms” the game might end up on, there are really only two that he could be thinking about that use normal controllers: the PS3 and 360.  The game has a very unique feel to it, and it would be interesting to see if the game could sell well on the PS3.  THQ has stated that the next game in the series will be released during the next fiscal year, which for THQ is between April 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011.
