Ditch the Ride and Shred with Tony Hawk’s Upcoming Title

When Activision announced last year’s Tony Hawk: RIDE was going to be released along with a skateboard  peripheral, many fans of the series were worried, and rightfully so. EA’s SKATE has come along in the past few years and has stolen the crown with it’s realistic “flick-it” controls and unique presentation. Naturally, when Tony Hawk: RIDE was released, compared to other titles in the series, it bombed bad. Thankfully, Tony Hawk hasn’t given up completely and have since announced yet another skateboarding title.

Thanks to the wonderful news center that is known as Twitter, Tony Hawk finally confirmed on his account that Robomodo is currently working on the next Tony Hawk title.

Tony Hawk: Shred. There, I said it. Actually, I named it. Somewhere a PR team is reeling.

Of course, just like anyone else that happens to let slip that sequel to a “major” game is in the works, it was quickly removed. Seeing as how it was already revealed, a Activision Representative went ahead and confirmed it.

We can confirm we’ve given a name to the next Tony Hawk game – Tony Hawk: SHRED, and more details will be revealed in the coming months.

This is good news for fans of the series and it is good to see a return. Hopefully, if a peripheral is included it will be far more accurate than the 3-figure inaccurate controller that the previous title included. At any rate, some innovation is needed to invigorate this popular skateboard series, but its revival is surely possible.

Seeing PlayStation LifeStyle will be at E3, chances are we’ll have some hand-on impressions in June. Stay tuned!
