The Dead to Walk Again in Black Ops? Maybe.

The year was 2008, and while Rick was busy rolling, Crocs where flying off shelves, millions of people began using the Wii to get fit, and Spaghetti Cat was popping up all over the web. We’re pretty sure a historical presidential election took place somewhere in there too. In any case, the year marked Treyarch’s first foray into the zombie game with Call of Duty: World at War, and while the family name might have had something to do with it, the inclusion of a zombie mode was one of the many reasons why it was propelled into such success. Now, with the impending launch of Black Ops, many fans of the series are wondering if they’ll once again have the opportunity to wreak havoc on the living dead come this November.

In the latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, Treyarch boss Mark Lamia expressed the developers satisfaction with the popular game mode and went about as far as he could without actually confirming a zombie comeback, stating,

“We really like the zombie mode, and as I mentioned I can’t talk about the co-op mode other than to say that one of the reasons we love it so much is that it feels like it was a fan-adopted mode, […] all I can tell you is we listen to our fan base.”

Take what you will from that, but if some elements of the game truly are crafted from the considerations of its fans, we wouldn’t be too surprised to the see our gray skinned friends running aimlessly around the battlefield this fall.
