Limbo Devs Working on New IP, Eyes Larger Audience

Following the hugely impressive success of Playdead’s Xbox LIVE exclusive, Limbo, it was only a matter of time before the developers started work on their next project. Unfortunately for PlayStation 3 owners, Limbo will not be coming to the PS3 as it’s an “Xbox 360 exclusive for life”, however, if a recent quote by the company’s CEO is anything to go by, then their new IP has a chance of making its way to Sony’s console.

CEO of Playdead Dino Patti told Joystiq an interesting statement which hints at their new IP reaching a broader range of audience; meaning a multi-platform game certainly isn’t out of the question. Patti said:

“To be honest, we want as many people to play our games as possible. If we end up going exclusive, we may do it for various reasons, but we just want as many people to play the game as possible.”

Now, let’s be frank: Limbo is undeniably one of best downloadable titles to have been released in recent times and it really is a shame that it won’t see a release on the PlayStation 3. Its brilliant art styled paired with immersive gameplay makes Playdead’s next project one to look out for and here’s hoping it does make its way onto Sony’s black behemoth machine.
