Winner: MAG (Massive Action Game)
What may bewilder most should come as no surprise to those who have experienced all that MAG has to offer. Zipper Interactive’s first outing on the PlayStation 3 brought the studio’s background in online gaming, from the SOCOM series on the PS2, and brought it up to scale with the power of the PS3. Unlike other shooters release on the various PlayStation platforms this year, MAG is truly an evolutionary first-person shooter that gets all the more worthwhile with age. With up to 256 player online battles across three factions and combined with a wide variety of weaponry, equipment, and gameplay mechanics, MAG was PlayStation LifeStyle’s obvious choice for the Best Shooter award.
