Rochard Blasts Through Deep Space this Spring

In January it was announced that Sony Online Entertainment has some tricks up its sleeve this year. Several games were revealed, albeit with limited details, and among them stood Rochard, a game made by Recoil Games featuring a puzzle-solving adventure through space. Although it’s been a few weeks now, SOE has finally made a descriptive debut for the title, and it sounds like a lot of space exploring fun.

The official press release by Sony Online Entertainment for Rochard describes the game as the following:

Rochard, scheduled for release this spring, is all about the heroic space adventures of astro-miner John Rochard as he manipulates gravity in inventive ways to solve puzzles, defeat enemies and bring down the most evil of bosses.

It adds:

Developed by Recoil Games, Rochard is a fun and original space adventure game that features a resourceful hero, ominous villains, rugged machinery, big explosions, even bigger stunts and sharp one-liners. The game tests players’ coordination and wits as they use gravity to their advantage, changing it at will to solve environmental puzzles and advance through each level. By using the upgradable G-Lifter, the main tool of the game, players can lift and manoeuvre heavy objects around the environment, and can eventually swing, jump and propel themselves huge distances throughout each level.

As mentioned, the game will release in Spring 2011, so it shouldn’t be long. For now, check out some screenshots to see the Team Fortress 2 style visuals that the game presents.
