Naughty Dog: Uncharted 3 Will ‘Drive’ 3DTV Sales

Without question, the Uncharted series from Naughty Dog is one of the most regarded PlayStation exclusive franchises of the current generation, and has even been hailed by some as the best game to come out of this era of consoles. Clearly, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was cited a system-seller for the PlayStation 3, and for good reason, but what will the next chapter in Nathan Drake’s adventures bring to the table?

With PS3s already in hand, there’s only one other thing gamers need to have to fully enjoy the next installment in Nathan Drake’s tale: the next big thing from Sony, of course – stereoscopic 3D gaming. According to a developer at Naughty Dog for their latest project, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will “drive” gamers everywhere to complete the experience with 3DTV’s. As told by lead designer of Uncharted 3, Jacob Minkoff:

People are only going to buy 3D when there’s awesome stuff in 3D. We’re making the awesome stuff that’ll drive people to adopt that technology.

Given the studio’s well established track record with their blockbuster PS3 franchise, the words of the developers are not to be taken lightly. Naughty Dog is already all but guaranteed to deliver with their latest project when it comes to fruition on November 1, 2011. Will you be purchasing a 3D television for this title if you weren’t planning on buying one anyways? Could a single game possibly be enough to warrant an investment of this sort?
