When Batman: Arkham Asylum released to massive critical and commercial success, Rocksteady Studios had a daunting new task – take a game that was an incredible feat and improve upon it. Batman: Arkham City had a lot of hype to live up to and, as evident in our review, the game absolutely delivered. Whether diving headfirst into a pack of enemies or using a smokebomb to make a hasty escape, the Dark Knight made his presence known. The visceral fighting mechanics introduced in Arkham Asylum were here in full force, and there are few times in all of gaming when you can feel like such a badass as when you take down ten or more thugs in brutal fashion. With such rewarding action segments and fights, it’s no wonder Batman: Arkham City won this category.
