Rayman Legends Trailer Leaks, Ubisoft Confirms Game Is In Development

A trailer for the Wii U version of Rayman Legends has leaked and Ubisoft has since confirmed that the game is in development.

Previous reports first suggested that a sequel to Rayman Origins may have been hinted at in a marketing survey, followed by reports of Ubisoft registering a domain for Rayman Legends. A trailer for Rayman Legends‘ Wii U version has now leaked and Ubisoft has since confirmed to Eurogamer that the game is in development:

An internal video showing images of Rayman Origins’ sequel has leaked over the Internet. This video was intended as a purely internal demonstrative video, and in NO way represents the final game, the final console or their features. This video was destined for internal production teams who often create game prototypes with work in progress development kits. Ubisoft confirms the development of Rayman Legends handled by Michel Ancel and his team in Montpellier.

No details — including price, release date, or platforms — have been announced for the game.

The trailer shows a new kind of rendered visuals for the game, new playable characters (a girl with an axe is shown), online gameplay, social games, and Wii U exclusive content in the form of touch interactivity (a player is shown moving a platform on the touchscreen) and some kind of Skylanders-esque toy scanning for game functionality. Touch interactivity is important to note, as touchscreen interactivity was present in the Vita version of Rayman Origins, for “popping” enemies and collecting lums.
