PS2 Classics Heading to Japan Later This Month

PlayStation owners in Japan will finally be able to experience PS2 titles on the PlayStation 3 outside of the original 60GB console, as a recent report is indicating that Sony will be expanding its “Game Archives” download service for gamers in the region.

According to Andriasang, PS2 games will be headed to the PlayStation 3 on July 25th. The first five that will be available are as follows:

  • Resident Evil Code: Veronica (¥1,200)
  • Kessen (¥1,500)
  • Shin Contra (¥1,200)
  • Dragon Force (¥800)
  • Siren (¥1,200)

Sony plans to add new titles to the mix every month. Some of the important ones that will be arriving in the future include Dead or Alive 2 Hard Core, Castlevania, Dynamite Dekka, Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box and Dark Cloud.

I don’t know about you, but I’d love it if Dark Cloud (and the sequel for that matter) came to the US PlayStation Store. With Sony clearly making more of an effort to bring PS2 content to the PS3, sound off in the comments below with which titles you like most to see come to the online store.
