Sony Revealing New Virtual Reality Head Mount at TGS

Sony has unveiled a new augmented reality headset with this slick, detail deprived Japanese teaser video, which the fine folks over at NeoGaf have translated for us:

You will witness the future of entertainment”

Hmmm, sounds….immersive?

It’s too soon to obviously make any serious judgments about ‘Prototype SR’ before we know some solid details, but it’s always fun to speculate: do you think Sony’s new head mounted display will present us with the ‘future of entertainment’? I’m slightly skeptical, and can’t imagine true virtual reality experiences coming about until the tech is at least sporting a 3D camera at the helm, but for stationary gaming (which is all anyone seems to want anyways) a regular camera should do the trick.

While we’re debating the unknown; what game do you figure Sony will demo Prototype SR with? My mind immediately jumps to first person shooters, which….aren’t popular in Japan, and of which no new PS3 exclusives are coming out anytime soon. The only title that makes sense from my perspective is the Unfinished Swan, or possibly an older staple Ps3 FPS like Killzone 3.
