The nominees for the DICE Awards have been revealed, and Thatgamecompany’s Journey leads the competition with a whopping eleven nominations, including one for Game of the Year.
Nipping at its heels is Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead with a total of eight nominations. Following closely behind is Far Cry 3 and Halo 4 with seven and six nominations, respectively. The five games up for Game of the Year consideration include the aforementioned Journey, The Walking Dead, and Far Cry 3, as well as Borderlands 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
Martin Rae, the president of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, is very pleased with the nominations, noting that all of the nominees are worthy of recognition.
As I look at the list of the 2012 finalist games, there is no doubt in my mind that every single nominated title strongly reflects the D.I.C.E. Awards moniker – Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain.
Across all platforms and through deeply immersive experiences, our industry continues to outdo itself year over year, finding new and interesting ways to evolve and engage audiences.
The awards will be given on February 7th during this year’s DICE Summit in Las Vegas, so be sure to check back here at PlayStation LifeStyle for all the results.
