The Last of Us Confirmed as a Day 1 Digital Title, You Can Play it Before the Download Finishes

It looks like “soon” was sooner than we thought as Neil Druckmann, Creative Director on The Last of Us, confirmed to Game Informer that their June 14th epic will be made available as a day 1 digital title on the PlayStation Network.

The good news doesn’t stop there either, as Neil and Bruce Straley, Game Director on The Last of Us, then detailed that you won’t have to wait for the download to fully complete before you can actually play it, as the game becomes accessible once the progress hits 50%. This special feature is a precursor for what you can expect with PS4 purchases, as Sony previously promised that you’ll be able to play a game while it downloads in the background.

Are you going to buy The Last of Us through retail or the PSN? Do you like the idea of not having to wait until the download is fully done to play it? Let us know in the comments below.
