Sony Partners With Boku, Brings Mobile Billing Option to UK PSN

Sony has partnered with mobile payment company Boku to bring PSN mobile billing to all UK mobile phone service providers. If you’re interested in using mobile billing, you can access the option from the Sony Entertainment Network Account Management website or the PlayStation Store on your PS3.

“Mobile” is now an option when adding funds to your wallet. Simply add your mobile phone number and then confirm the wallet top-up by replying to a text you receive with the letter Y. This will then be added to your next phone bill or deducted from your prepaid account.

Vice president at Sony Network Entertainment Europe, Gordon Thornton, said:

We are always looking at new ways to give our customers more choice in terms of content, accessibility and payment methods, and are pleased to be able to offer the option of mobile operator billing, which are becoming more and more popular.

Over on the PS Blog, SCEE’s Jawad Ashraf said that “this is for the UK only at the moment”. It’s probably no coincidence, however, that the PS Store was updated yesterday, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if the service expanded elsewhere.
